EurostarEurostar is the fast rail service directly linking the UK with France and Belgium via the Channel Tunnel. It started operating in 1994 providing city centre to city centre services. Since the opening of the new UK fast line on September 28, journey times have been reduced by around 40 minutes. The fastest London - Paris journey time is now 2 hours 35 minutes, London - Brussels 2 hours 15 minutes and London - Lille 1 hour 40 minutes. There are up to 14 daily services to Paris and 9 to Brussels. In addition upto 9 services to Lille in Northern France and upto 4 services stop at Calais Frethun. Also 14 trains call at Ashford International, the principal passenger gateway to Kent. There are direct daily services from London Waterloo and Ashford International to Disneyland Resort Paris, and during the winter months Eurostar operate a twice weekly service to Moutiers and Bourg St Maurice in the French Alps. In summer Eurostar also run a serive on Saturdays to Avignon in Provence. Eurostar has been at the leading edge of innovation in rail technology, setting new standards for train travel. Eurostar is investing £35 million in a refurbishment program covering all aspects of the service including rolling stock interiors, terminals, lounges, ticket offices, check-in, crockery, the visual identity and staff uniforms.
